The President

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to witness the accounts of this historical day–150 years since Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, 50 years since the march on Washington led by Dr. Martin Luther King, and the second inauguration of our first Black President.

I pray that this is just the beginning for more historic moments as we learn to live peaceably with all mankind, regardless of gender or race or socioeconomic status.  I pray that “love” will indeed conquer all the hate and obstructionism in Congress, in neighborhoods, cities, states, and countries.  I also pray that we as human beings would learn to care for one another so that none would lack anything needful.

In spite of all the ignorance and disrespect shown our President, I am glad that he rose above it all and held his head high–with confidence and humility as he continues the journey to move this country forward.
