“(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)” John 20:9 NIV
The disciples who ran to the tomb when Mary told them the door had been rolled away saw the strips of linen and the cloth that covered His face when He was put into the tomb and believed He was not there, but they did not understand that He had to rise to fulfill scripture and His purpose for our lives.
It wasn’t enough that He came through the womb of a virgin–but it was written.
It wasn’t enough that He was persecuted, scorned and beaten--but it was written.
It wasn’t enough that people lied on Him and He was arrested--but it was written.
It wasn’t enough that He was crucified, taking our sins upon Himself that our relationship with God would be restored–but it was written.
It wasn’t enough that He died on that cross, the symbol of being cursed–but it was written.
It wasn’t enough that He was buried in a borrowed tomb--but it was written.
Now, He has risen is sitting at the right hand of the Father–interceding always on our behalf--it was written and it is enough, but do we really believe Him, yet?
Everything He did, He did out of love for us, that we might have an abundant life and live in peace, choosing to please the Father, not self. Are we there yet?
Some are and some aren’t, but I’m praying that this day will be a reminder of His great love for us and all will choose to live a life that is pleasing to Him!
