What The Lord Does!

“He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 146:6-10 NLT)

To fully understand where I’ve started in quoting this passage of this Psalm, one would have to start from the first verse. Personally, I don’t think it requires much by way of explication, but for those who may not know or have forgotten, here’s the reminder:

He has created all that was created and without Him, nothing was created.

He is not absent-minded and He keeps every promise He ever makes to all who believe Him.

He opens blinded eyes, both physically and spiritually and when we seek Him, He gives us the motivation and inspiration to rise above our circumstances.

He loves all who live according to His Word because He has a plan for all to achieve.

His protection extends to the those who live among us because of our faith in Him, when they don’t believe. He rains on the just and unjust alike. His covenant with us, is the umbrella, that shelters those in our presence.

He speaks to us and through us, in our obedience to Him, those who are without, will have all they need.

Whenever the enemy rises and dares to show his ugliness, The Lord has an army, bold, brave, and courageous, rising up to extol the virtues of The Lord and to remind the enemy he is already defeated.

The Lord our God will reign forever for He is the same yesterday, today and forever–He never changes His mind or His Word towards those who love Him and obey His Word–to love like He loves and live like we’re living for Him.

Hallelujah! This is what The Lord does!

Be encouraged today to praise Him no matter what life looks like; it’s always better with Him by our side!

Christian Literature that praises Him for all His goodness and leads into His Word. Something for everyone!

The World’s Inability!

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” (John 14:16,17 NLT)

Just before Jesus made this promise to His disciples, He declared, “If you love me, keep my commandments.”

Since He said, “if” we know that He considered the fact that many would not love him and certainly would not keep His commandments. Interesting thing about “if, then” propositions–if  one accepts the truth of one aspect, then the truth must be understood of the other. If we don’t keep His commandments, then we are saying, we don’t love Him.

The world–those who do not believe–doesn’t have a chance at understanding this proposition because it refuses to accept God as the sovereign ruler in the lives of Believers. In essence–their ignorance stems from their inability to accept what we as Believers know to be truth. The truth we know, however, can only be understood within the parameters of being in relationship with God and accepting all Holy Spirit reveals to us.

Jesus, our Advocate–promises another advocate after He leaves. Understandably, one person–confined by a flesh and skeletal frame–could not be in every place at one time; but His spirit–Holy Spirit–unencumbered by the human framework, can certainly be in every place at the same time when we receive the promise and allow Him to live within each of us.

This then, is the problem for the world–it will not accept the Truths in the Bible, nor will it accept the understanding that we, who believe are not hindered by finite truths–those limited by the human mind–but we have access to Holy Spirit who can and does reveal to us things we did not study or research–because with Holy Spirit–we have the mind of Christ–who knows all things and no human in the world can say the same.

While the world rebels against God’s truths, we have no need to defend our beliefs or attack others for their lack of knowing. If they choose to “do a re-make” of what God has said, they will reap the consequences of their actions. All we need to do is simply remind them, “We agree with God because we have the mind of Christ” smile, and keep going, shaking the dust from our feet, if they are not willing to receive what we have to say.

Let’s share The Word, love and embrace those who receive, pray for those who won’t, shake the dust from our feet or fingers, and keep it moving. Holy Spirit within us is more than the world against us! He won’t be stopped as long as we are willing to live according to the terms of His Love–to love unconditionally!

Who To Trust!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6 NKJV)

Many Believers say we trust God, but when we take the time to think about all the things we do and the decisions we make, can we say, we really trust God?

Looking at these verses this morning reminded me that there was a time in my life that when God spoke–I simply did as I was asked to do. Perhaps, it was because I was younger, eager, and fearless in my quest to please Him. Now, I notice that I am not as quick to do, but rather I tend to think about “how to get it done” rather than just doing.

I know that when we are at peace and our spirits are quieted, we hear Him clearly and because we can hear Him clearly, if we listen long enough, He’ll direct us in “how” to get things done. So, perhaps, my biggest problem is that I hear one part and move too quickly and not hear the rest. I get too busy thinking about how it’s going to be accomplished rather than hearing Him tell me. I’m probably not the only one, guilty of this, but if I am, “Father, forgive me and help me to hear You clearly.”

We must trust Him–with all of our heart–nothing withheld. We have proven by our lack of insight and foresight (our hindsight is greater) that our wisdom (what we think we know) is limited at best, and full of holes at the least. Our wisdom–is not God’s wisdom and we cannot know more than He does. Our wisdom–gets complicated when we think we have find all the answers when we don’t even know all the questions to ask to seek the right answers from the right source. And the answers we do get–full of holes–with the “what ifs” syndrome.

If we acknowledge Him–first--in all we do, we would save ourselves so much heartache and confusion. I know some people think that just using the “five senses” He gives us is enough, but it isn’t.

I’ve learned that I cannot always trust what I see–my vision is failing and clouded by cataracts; I cannot always trust what I hear–my hearing is sometimes distorted due to inner-ear complications; I cannot always trust my sense of touch because the tips of my fingers are worn and have become insensitive to heat–on occasion; I cannot trust my sense of smell because of perpetual sinus issues (I can still smell something burning and know it at once); and the worst of all, I cannot trust my sense of taste because my taste buds have a mind of their own–sometimes they like one thing and sometimes they don’t.

Recognizing my shortcomings helps me realize just how much I need to trust Him–who has no problem seeing or knowing all I need to do. So, I’ve come to a conclusion, about things. Once I’m sure It is Him who is speaking to my situation, I’m simply going to let Him direct me in how to get it done.

He has directed me in finding things in stores without getting assistance from anyone in the store. He has directed me in filling me with knowledge about Him that has not been printed, yet. He has directed me in accomplishing things that many attorneys try to avoid. He directs my attention to His Word every morning and instructs me in what to say. Why wouldn’t I trust Him?

From knowing how to take care of this body that has limitations, to knowing how to arrange words to encourage, correct, warn, admonish, to filling my heart to overflowing with love to share, and wisdom in how to be a good steward over all He has provided, I trust His wisdom and judgment more than mine.

As smart or intelligent as most of us think we are–in a crisis and in daily living–who can we really trust to know what is best for us–us or Him? If we are not willing to recognize where we are, He cannot help us to get where He wants us to be.

Lord, help us to get to a place–quickly–where we can hear You and hear You clearly when You speak to our hearts!

Thoughts About Preachers

Preach cvrThere are so many people out there–ready to criticize and demonize televangelists–that I thought I’d take a few minutes to express my thoughts about preachers.  We have some great ones, some good ones, and some not so good ones.  I’m judging the messages and the methods, not the people.  Judging the individuals is God’s job, not mine.  I encourage to read my thoughts and share your own.  Available on Amazon now for .99.  I really enjoy those who have been gifted to preach The Word and do so with honor and integrity and humor, never hurts.  Since I am a preacher, I want to make sure I stay focused on what God wants me to say and not be conformed to traditions and trends created by man.  Thanks for reading!
