Where Do You Stand?

A number of people have asked me recently what my position is regarding the imminent Supreme Court decision as it pertains to DOMA.

My position is not political; it is spiritual–based upon my knowledge of the Bible and my relationship with God.

God’s truths and what He says is right, never changes.  What man “says” is right, constantly changes.

Where do I stand? I stand on the Word of God, understanding His purpose for mankind and His ability to love us–no matter what!

That’s where I stand. Where do you stand?

Deceptive Storms (excerpt from chapter one)

Cal locked the door for the last time and squared his shoulders as he walked back down the steps, smiling as he watched his wife, impatiently waiting by their Trailblazer.  He admired her sense of adventure and willingness to drive for the next eight hours.  He understood.  They had much to discuss and could do so as they traveled, making plans, starting the next leg of their journey.

D’Cerner stood by the door, gazing into the future, not knowing what would happen, but ready for anything.  Cal was caught up in the moment for a second, watching her. She certainly didn’t look her age, but about fifteen years younger, then with his arm around her waist, turned her towards the door and opened it.

“I’m ready for something new and can’t wait for us start our new life in London.  I hope we haven’t forgotten anything.”

“I’m sure we haven’t, and if we did, the realtor will call the kids and make sure they get it.  You checked the house three times before we told the movers to get going,” Cal smiled at her as he sat behind the wheel and started the SUV.

“I know, but I can’t help feeling that we’re leaving something important behind,” she pouted.

“We are leaving something or rather some ones very important, our children.  They will be fine.  We’ve discussed this a number of times and they all agreed to live in your house. When

the time comes and they want to move, they’ll work it out.”

“I know.  Can you believe it? After everything that’s happened, it has all worked out for the best.”

Cal nodded his head.  “I know.  It wasn’t that long ago when I wouldn’t have dreamed of this day, but it’s here and I’m going to enjoy the ride.”

As he pulled out into the street, he began to think about the past seven months.  After the hearing, he and D’Cerner were offered the church in London to pastor and were given time to go visit before making a final decision.  They had already determined that they would take the church before the hearing began, but agreed to the visit as a formality.  Looking back on the hearing, Cal grunted causing D’Cerner to look at him quizzically.  He didn’t notice.

She started to ask what he was thinking about, but then realized he too was remembering their fateful hearing.

Where Are the Real Christians?

Will the real followers of Christ—please stand up and speak out against ungodliness?

Church folks—those of you who just go to church because you think it impresses God or man—sit down and be quiet!  Pick up a bible and study to show yourself approved unto God (not man), a workman who knows how to rightly divide The Word!  From the looks of things in our society, I would have to say we have more church folks—pretending to have a relationship with God-than we do real followers of Christ—many of whom have become “secret agents” for the Lord because they don’t want to be persecuted by the masses of those who commit ungodliness and try to convince others that God doesn’t mind.

The secret agents live in isolation as it pertains to their faith in God.  God and they are the only ones who know about them.  The rest of the world is kept in the dark about who they really are because they refuse to speak up or speak out in support of what God says.  These agents feel that it is more important to not discuss anything that may create confusion or division.  This is why they say, “I was always told not to discuss politics or religion.”

Once again, they will not speak out about the corrupted political arena or the flaws of those who profess to be Christians who really are not.  Real Christians try to live the life that indicates they are followers of Christ.  They do not try to reinvent the Word to pacify their fluctuating beliefs.  They do not try to say God said one thing over another when He didn’t.  Real Christians understand that whatever God said is sin in The Word is still sin in the world.  Jesus did not come to change anything God said, but to bring us back into right relationship with the Father so we would have access to heaven as our eternal destination.

None who attempt to manipulate The Word or what God says will enter into the Kingdom for they do not know the Father and have no right to the inheritance as a joint-heir when they cannot be, as Christ is—totally subject to doing the will of the Father. Man-pleasers have no place in the inheritance for the Word says, we should please God for we cannot please man.  If we are honest with ourselves, we would have to acknowledge that truth since man changes the rules of living as they go along, in order to get along with everyone, and will at any time decide to change the rules as needed.  Is God happy with that?  I doubt it.  He said, “I am the Lord your God and I change not!”  So where does that leave us?  It should lead us to wanting to know how to please Him rather than man since man has no heaven or hell for anyone, but themselves. However, we do choose, by our actions, our appointed destination—heaven or hell.  Where will you spend eternity?
