What Do The Dead Know?

“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5 NIV)

There are two types of death inferred in this passage spoken by Solomon (paraphrased by me)–spiritual death and natural death.

Spiritually speaking–the spirit which God gives goes back to Him when we die a natural death and for some–we are comforted in the fact that our spirits live on until we are reunited with them when Christ returns.

But then there are those who are the “walking dead” whose spirits have never been energized with Holy Spirit infusion and though they live–in the natural–they are dead (not to sin as Believer become when we receive Holy Spirit), and they will not heed spiritual instructions about their lives or what they do. These have no hope of anything, but a fiery lake, created with Satan in mind, and all who follow him.

In the natural death of the Believer–their names are written in the book of life–and though their flesh decays and they return to the dust from which they came, their spirits live on in the minds of those who love them. Believers are dead to sin and choose to know nothing more about actively doing sin. While here on earth, they lived and hopefully made a positive difference in the lives of many–while directing them to the work on the cross. When they are gone–let them go–so they and you can know peace, for surely, if they did not belong to The Lord before they died, they will never know His mercy and grace after they die.

The walking dead–choose to do evil and promote evil. They are self-centered and selfish–their only concern in this life is what they want and they could care less about the impact their actions have on others. These are those who commit atrocious acts of violence against other human beings–for any reason–and then try to justify themselves. These are those who destroy hope in the lives of those who are hopeful. These are those who seek the praise and approval of man over the approval of God. These are those who stop at nothing to fulfill their desire to have what belongs to others. And dead they shall be for all eternity–spiritless, burning forever in the same torment by which they tormented others.

Life is for the living! And those who know The Lord shall be comforted by The Word in knowing that one day, we shall rise and reign with Him forevermore. While we’re here, let’s do all we can to make sure we do not become “the walking dead” with no hope for the dead–as we can see in the media all the time–know nothing.

One Thing!

“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.” (Psalm 27:4 NIV)

In spite of all the things we may ask of God, while we are yet here on the planet, there is only one thing that I desire of Him, after death–to live with Him for all eternity.

No matter how many movies we see–lighting the way to heaven, seeing what actors do when they are supposedly in heaven, the reality is–after death–we know nothing (in the natural) and can certainly do nothing. I’ve often threatened to come back and haunt some folks if they don’t follow my wishes when I die, but whatever they do–will no longer concern me when I’m dead. For The Word says, “the dead know nothing” and we should not promote them knowing anything.

However, when He returns, “even the dead in Christ shall rise, first and live forever” with Him for all eternity. But in order to get there, or be “in Him” before we die, we must obey Him and do what He says for us to do. If we do not know The Word, we certainly cannot obey The Word, so I implore you today, get to know The Word, obey The Word, and expect the One Thing you seek the most to happen–in heaven for all eternity.

An Open Prayer For All!

“But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (I John 4:8 NLT).

If we say we love God, we should know how to love others–not hate.

When we allow hate to replace love in our hearts, we do not honor God.

For all who hate-others and God–this prayer is for you!

Father, in the name of Jesus,

I pray that You will move upon hearts today

Speaking love, In a very special way.

I pray for those who hate others because of political affiliations.

I pray for those who hate others because of ethnic origins and race.

I pray for those who hate others because they are gay or straight.

I pray for those who hate teachers, preachers, accountants, and lawyers,

And any other career or skill set they do not have.

I pray for those who hate because of their feelings of superiority about themselves,

And for those who hate because of their feelings of inferiority against themselves.

I pray for those who hate others because they are Muslim or Christian,

Catholic, Jew, Gentile, Buddhist, Baptist, Pentecostal, or whatever faith they proclaim.

I pray for those who hate because of some are male or female.

I pray for those who hate children and women, men and themselves.

I pray for those who hate redheads, blondes, brunettes, and raven-haired,

For those who hate others because they have straight, curly, kinky hair, long hair, short, and no hair.

I pray for those who hate others because of their height or girth, their humor or lack of one

I pray for those who hate because some have too many children and some have none.

I pray for those who hate all who don’t agree with them and for those who hate because they cannot agree with anyone.

I pray for those who disdain others because of their imperfections and flaws

Not seeing themselves because if they did, they would see and know their own imperfectness.

I pray for those who hate any living thing because so much hatred abides within their heart.

Lord, I ask You to cleanse the hatred from their hearts, and replace it with the abundance of love

You give to all who will receive it and allow it to overflow from them onto others.

Lord, for when You fill hearts with Love, and we learn to Love like You love,

The violence will cease and we can all live in peace.

All this I ask and believe we will receive it in the name of Jesus,

And according to Your Word, whatever we ask in Your Son’s name will be given.

I thank You for hearing and answering this prayer and all prayers of those who know and love You!

Amen!

Favor and Life!

“For he who finds me finds life,  And obtains favor from the LORD” (Proverbs 8:35 NASB).

Have you found Him?

Have you found The One who gives Life?

Have you found He who gives you favor all your life?

Have you discovered that with Him, you are never alone?

Have you lived the abundant Life He promises to all who receive Him into their lives?

Have you seen Him operating in the lives of others on a regular basis?

Have you felt His love towards like no other love?

Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior?

Have has your name been written in the Book of Life?

Have you acknowledged that favor on your life with others because of Him?

Well, have you?

The questions could go on and on, but there is only one response that He is seeking. “Yes, I have…” The promises of The Lord are always, Yes and Amen, but there are some who are not even aware of His promises; the promises of Life Abundantly for those who believe and receive and the promise of death for those who don’t.

We must always remember all of His promises are true–and the death that occurs, occurs spiritually, before it results in a natural death. Look around you and then look into His Word. From beginning to end–we have a choice to make–choosing life or death. I choose life and His Favor with others.

The very next verse advises us as to what happens to those who sin against God and it is their choice–not His.

Seek Him, while you yet have opportunity to do so. Repent and receive His unmerited favor–with Him and with others. Love as He loves and enjoy the abundant life He has waiting–just for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus, help us gain greater insight into Your Word so we never do anything that will displease You. Help us to understand that we do not have to cave to the dictates of flesh, but can have the abundant life You promise when we obey You. Bring us into a closer relationship with You so we will understand “relationship trumps religion.”

Choices And Consequences!

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live…”(Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV).

To be blessed or be cursed--is a choice we make–based upon our decisions.

We either choose life–being obedient in all that God says, or we choose death, being cursed–when we disobey.

In the life of a true believer–the choice is simple. We understand the blessings of obedience and the consequences of disobedience. When we know God through our relationship with Him–nothing that happens in life is a surprise. We know we are either blessed or cursed and we know we are the ones who choose whether we are blessed or cursed.

Today, a decision has to be made that will affect the rest of our lives and the lives of our children. We must exercise wisdom in all things and know that God has established a credible witness (Holy Spirit) who will testify to what He sees and hears. We cannot fool God–we can only fool people and that for only a short period of time. The truth will always be revealed–when we least expect it–the lies shall be uncovered for all the world to see. Shed the cloak of deception and drape the garment of righteousness around you and those you love–choose life and be blessed!

Leave no room–in your heart or mind–for the enemy to continue to influence your thoughts and what you do. Time is not manipulated by us, but controlled by God. We have been given another chance to get it right–let’s do it, today!

Father, in the name of Jesus, help us to understand that we must obey Your Word, even when it goes against the grain of popular opinion or political correctness. It is Your Word that gives us life and puts us into position to be blessed by You. Give us the strength to stand against the winds of adversity–fully focused on doing Your Will and not our own. We declare all works of the enemy void and powerless in our lives and it is done! Amen!

Joy in the Morning

Life is full of hardships, tragedies, and unexpected twists that bring many people to their knees–leaving them destitute and hopeless.

There is nothing we can do to stop “life” from happening, but we can adjust our responses to those events.  As hard as it may be, we must keep moving forward while we have the opportunity to do so.

When a loved one is hurt in a tragic event–cry, scream, repent and move on. Even though your heart feels like it has been ripped from your chest, given time the tears will mend and you can still rejoice.

When the death of someone you love comes upon them–suddenly–don’t despair even though you may wish it were you–cry, scream, repent and move on.

While you’re watching a loved one’s mind slowly deteriorate–don’t despair–remember the good times, try to help them remember, and even if they don’t–smile, hug them, pray for them, love them, and keep it moving!

If we don’t keep moving when the enemy strikes at our hearts, we allow him the pleasure of knowing how to stop God’s divine plan for our lives and those we could positively impact.  Grieve through the darkness, cry in the storm, repent in the aftermath and when the dawn of morning comes, rejoice in the Lord and know that He has it all in His control!  Hallelujah!

It’s Time!

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we must face the realities of living. If we are blessed long enough to see and understand each milestone of life, we certainly can appreciate God’s love and humor.

The milestones:

1st birthday

5th birthday

10th birthday

13th birthday

16th birthday

18th birthday

21st birthday

30th birthday

40th birthday

50th birthday

60th birthday

70th birthday

80th birthday (promised life)

90th birthday (long life)

100th birthday (special long life)

We come into the world dependent upon others and if we live long enough, we are often dependent upon others at the ends of our lives. Isn’t it about time we show our appreciation for everyone in our life that makes our lives special and worth living? We never know when the end will be, but we can make the most of every moment in time we have–right now! It’s Time to care about how we live and what we do at each milestone in our lives!

On That Day

Without a conscience–the soul has no chance on That Day. When we leave here–the earth realm–our spirit goes back to God, our bodies return to dust, and the soul is preserved for judgment on That Day. Seek God and invite the Holy Spirit in to dwell within the temple (your body) so that a conscience is developed and a soul is saved on That Day–for all eternity. Help us Holy Spirit to hear Your sweet, gentle voice so we may give a hearty praise unto The Lord–always! Glory to God!

I Made God Cry!

“I made God cry–I saw His tears, and felt His heart breaking–when I chose not to obey His Word.” When I didn’t know any better, and was living life any way I wanted to, I didn’t realize that God loved me so much…that when I committed a sinful act (my, my, my), that it would actually cause Him to pain. Now that I know better, I don’t want to cause Him pain because I love Him; I don’t want to see Him cry over the things I do; and when I see Him on That Day, all I want to hear is…”well done, my beloved child”. Are you making God cry? It’s never too late to turn things around, to know He is smiling upon us, just because He loves us and wants only the very best for us. No more tears–not on my behalf! Hallelujah!
