What Happens When We Honor God!

“You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” (Psalm 45:7 NIV)

This wedding song (in 17 verses) depicts what God’s response is to those who love righteousness and hate wickedness. When we do what is right, God sets us apart and above, anointing us with the oil of joy, not sadness.

If the wedding participants honor God, then God honors the wedding participants. He anoints the joining together of a man and woman so their hearts are filled with joy, looking with great expectancy to all God has promised them.

When we honor God–all of His promises are yes and amen.

When we honor God, in the fulfillment of the marriage plan designed by Him, we can become one as husband and wife, without fear or trepidation of the outcome.

When we honor God, He blesses us as individuals, and as a couple and all of our children are blessed.

When we honor God and keep Him first as our focus in living, our homes will know peace and so will our communities when all are honoring Him.

When we honor God, we know we can talk to Him and He will direct our paths in all things.

When we honor God, we know when we hear from Him and we are not deceived by the enemy who infiltrates the minds of those who waffle about obedience to God.

When we honor God, we know when the devil is trying to entice us to live in opposition to God’s Word.

When we honor God, nothing is impossible for us to accomplish because we please Him, and He gives us the desires of our hearts.

When we honor God–we can count on Him to make the crooked roads straight, both naturally and spiritually.

When we honor God–we accept our shortcomings and submit to His instructions, receiving correction with the love that He gives it.

When we honor God–He completes us as individuals and when we meet another completed person (not a half), God is pleased with the union and blesses all we do, jointly.

All this and more will God do for those who honor Him with their whole life, living to please Him and not flesh.

His Delight To The Faithful!

“For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.” (Psalm 149:4,5 NIV)

When does the Lord delight in His people? In the beginning, the children of Israel were His chosen, but since all Believers have been adopted into the family, we are all His children. Now the “delight” referenced in scripture is really about our efforts to please God and when we please Him, He gives us the desires of our heart.

How do we please God? We please Him when we honor Him with our obedience in all things. When we love anyone, most of us want to please the object of our affection. If we love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and love each other, we please Him. If we truly love self and others, we will not cause harm to them or see them harmed.

When we truly love, we can forgive and let go of those things that happened in our pasts and keep moving forward in the marvelous light of Jesus Christ.

When we truly love, we can see the good in people and caution them against opposing God with loving kindness.

When we truly love, we seek the best in everyone’s life around us and certainly promoting the Gospel will lead them to receiving God’s best.

When we truly love, what we do is not so much about us as it is about others as we stay in position to hear God and obey what He would have us to do for them.

When we truly love God, we acknowledge our imperfections and flaws openly and allow Him to transform us, no longer concerned with conforming to the world’s way of living, but living life according to God’s plan.

This is what happens when we love God and He is pleased with what we do (His faithful people)–He crowns the humble (not the boastful and arrogant) with victory in everything they do. He makes us glad and when we’re glad, we praise Him and honor Him from sunrise to sunset–no matter what happens in between.

Let’s take some time today to remember that our living is not about us, but when it is about Him, He makes sure the world knows we function in His favor!

“Take delight in the Lord (learn how to please Him) and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4)

When we take pleasure in finding ways to please God, it gives Him great pleasure to give us the desires of our heart–even the hidden things we not vocalized.

When I look at the sky, the clouds, the birds and squirrels playing, the mountains that I love so much, and the water–no matter where you find it and peace–I am always amazed at God’s creations.  When I hear about selfless acts that people do for others, I am equally grateful for our ability to have compassion for others.  I delight in what I see God has already done for us collectively, and I am always humbled by His favor–every where I go.

I am delighted with His love for me and the life He has allowed me to have.  I try at all times to do those things that I know will please Him, but I’m not perfect and I’m sure I don’t always make it, but I never stop trying.

Yesterday was a particularly delightful day for me when I was “under attack by unbelievers” online.  What I realized is that the more I am doing right for God, the greater the attack by those the enemy has influenced.  I did not get angry or belligerent, but thanked them for paying attention to me.  I knew that God had to be pleased with the fact that I openly acknowledge Him at all times and the enemy was afraid of how my words might influence others to come to themselves and acknowledge God’s existence.  I am also grateful that over 90% of my followers on Twitter are Believers!  Hallelujah!

If you have not received your heart’s desires “yet”, think about what you’re doing.  Are you spending your time pleasing God or pacifying “man”?  Delight in all He has done, is doing and will do in your life and watch those desires–the ones you have not even voiced–come to pass!
