Why Faith In God? Part 3

“Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.” (Matthew 21:21 NIV) “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:10 NIV)

Notice how important it is to use “our mouths” to proclaim our faith. Jesus said, “You can say…” and Paul tells us, “With your mouth you profess your faith…” So, conversely, if we don’t “say” we won’t see our faith exercised or receive what we won’t say. This is why it is important for us to watch those things we say. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” We can use our tongues which are in our mouths–to speak life to our lives with our faith in God or we can speak death to our lives with negative confessions, expressing doubt. It’s up to us–remember–according to our faith–it will be what we say it will be.

Understanding the power we have with our tongues and expression of our faith, why would we contribute to having no ability to do anything worthwhile for others?

We can exercise our faith in God, by saying–“No weapon formed against us shall prosper” when we get that negative report from doctors. “By His stripes, I am healed.”  “There is no name above the name of Jesus,” and sickness and disease have names that are covered under the blood. And then we do everything we can to live a healthy life. There is no point in saying something, just to say it, now we have something we need to do.

We don’t have to be afraid of anything, so when the enemy attempts to ignite fear in us, we say “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind” and then move out in the power of His might!

We never have to accept defeat in any endeavor when we say, “I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me,” and then keep trying to accomplish whatever it is we’re trying to accomplish, until we do it right.

We can have what we say, when we refuse to allow negativity to enter into our minds and we keep professing we have what it is we need, no matter what things look like. Don’t allow what you see to determine what you speak! God created the world in seven days and there is nothing too hard for Him to do for those He loves and for those who complete faith is in Him!

Hallelujah, Jesus! Thanking Him for our needs being met, over and above anything we need so we will have surplus to assist others. Thanking Him for healing bodies with the same healing virtue used to heal the woman with the issue of blood. Thanking Him for protecting the vulnerable, and comforting hearts, and speaking to the hearts of those who commit evil. We may not see it the evidence, but we can rest assured that God hears us and knows everything about everything.

The one thing He will not do–is force anyone to do anything they do not want to do. So, while our faith in God is assured, we must also know that He gives free-will choice to the saved and unsaved, leaving all to the consequences of their choices.

Part 4 tomorrow!

Having Authority!

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19 NIV)

The missionary report from the seventy-two who went out and proclaimed the Good News and healed those who were sick was good, but the Jesus reminded them–they rejoiced over the wrong thing, the submission of the demons to them at the name of Jesus. This they did when Jesus was with them. Now, as a cautionary note, Jesus went on to tell them, rejoice in the fact that their names were written in the book of life–not just in having authority over demons, while He was with them.

They had authority to trample on snakes–unaware of their existence, not by tempting the devil with foolishness--and not be harmed. He gave them authority–to overcome anything the enemy attempted to do them and promised them, nothing would harm them–this He did while He was with them.

Before He left to return to His place in heaven, he told the twelve (notice the reduction in numbers who operated with power), that greater works we would do–after He left, than they did while He was with them.

One of the reasons the Church of Jesus Christ is weakened and often thwarted by the enemy is because we think–the power is in the numbers. The power is not in how many people attend the building, but the power and authority is in the faith of the Believer–individually. Now, where two or three–faith-filled people gather, there is nothing they cannot accomplish when they do all in His name.

The power and authority we have is activated by our agreement with another faith-filled believer and being on one accord with Holy Spirit for the results. When we practice what we say we believe, we see the results of having power through Holy Spirit and know we cannot go wrong when we allow Him to lead.

If we want change in our society, change in our schools, change in our homes and change in our governments, we must practice the authority we have in Jesus’ name by coming into agreement with other Believers, guided by Holy Spirit, and then sit back and watch Him work it out–for our good!

Before we can actively, consciously do anything in order to operate in His authority, we must Know The Word, Pray The Word, and Preach The Word, in season and out, whether people want to hear it or not (Paul’s instructions to Timothy work for us today) and do all we do to the glory of God! That’s Having authority!

The Spirit God Gives!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT)

If we are wandering this land, full of fear–unable to speak up or speak out against injustice and indignities, and sin–we are not operating with the spirit given to us by God, but influenced by the spirit of the enemy.

The spirit God has given endows us with power–from within–the courage to stand firm upon the convictions of our beliefs and we are able to speak up and speak out when we see injustice, inhumane treatment of people and sin.

The spirit God has given fills us with love overflowing–so we are able to love all people–regardless of skin color, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or political stances–unconditionally.

The spirit God gives us enables us to develop and function with a self-disciplined life–one that is aware of limitations and the needs of self and others and accommodates with wisdom.

Why does God give us a spirit that enables us to do (not to make excuses in not doing)? Because we are His children and we are destined to do all He desires us to do–beyond our innate capabilities–moving full steam ahead with the power He has given us. What an awesome God!

He has given us a spirit that says, “We can do all things through Christ Jesus” and do them well, glorifying Him.

He has given us a spirit that says, “With Him, we can do it.” We can stop doing all things that harm body and mind or would influence harming others.

He has given us a spirit that says, “Nothing is impossible with God.” We can think things through before we act and know we have exercised wisdom in all decisions.

That’s the Spirit God gives! Which spirit is influencing what you do today?

Hand of Power!

“Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me.” (Psalm 138:7 NLT)

I am reminded in this verse of scripture–to simply trust God–and know that He will do exactly as He says He’ll do. For if He stretches forth His hand–that Hand of Power–it will save me and others, no matter how dismal things seem.

His Hand–has the power to heal, the power to save, the power to redeem, the power to lift out darkness and the pits some have dug for themselves. His Hand–has the power to guide and comfort–no matter how far we may have strayed from His Love. His Hand–is the only hand from which power flows into the hearts of those who love Him and obey Him.

Though it seems like all is lost and the world has gone completely mad, I know I can count on His reaching out to me and by the Power in His Hand, I shall survive and thrive in the midst of chaos.

God’s got it–the answer and solutions to all of our problems and He holds it in the Power of His Hand, just waiting for us to turn towards Him and receive!

Thank You, Lord for stretching Your Hand of Power towards all of Your children and keeping us safe from all harm. Hallelujah!

The Power of Belief!

“And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.” (John 3:36 NLT)

Are you an “anyone”? Fortunately, for most of us, we meet the criteria to receive eternal life because we are “anyone” who believes in Jesus.

With so many positive-thinking, motivational speakers out there, we see when we read The Word the principle from which most of them obtained their concepts, even if they won’t admit it. There is power in belief–whether it is positive or negative and the only criteria that must be met–is individual belief.

If we believe that everyone is out to get us–we act out of paranoia–and we never see that some folks are put in our path to help us–not hurt us.

If we believe all the negativity that we ever heard about us–we become bitter and suspicious and in many cases, we operate out of negativity–always expecting the worst to happen to us.

If we believe that we can do all things through Him who loves us–most of us will actually attempt to do things and see success with our attempts.

If we straddle the fence–half-heartedly attempt to do things–we do not get the full measure of success we could have had.

It is the half-hearted beliefs by some who will not see the end result promised to all who believe and obey–eternal life. These are the people who say, “I believe in Jesus, but I don’t believe what His Father said.” Why is this so? When we only read The Word selectively–forgetting that Jesus appeared on the earth as God in the flesh and nothing God the Father had previously said was negated by His appearance on earth. The one thing that most ignore is that we are to, “Love God (and obey) and love one another” as the total fulfillment of everything that God ever said. If we truly believe–we would receive The Word with gladness and obey.

I choose to believe and obey. I am everything that God says I am–blessed, highly favored, more than a conqueror, healed by His stripes, descendant of royalty, joint-heir with Christ Jesus, the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, His treasure, loved beyond measure, and nothing by any means shall stop me from believing what God has said about me. That’s the power of belief–the power needed to successfully navigate life and endure all that comes before us.

What’s His Name?

“But I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power. Then at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them.”(Isaiah 52:6 NLT)

“There is power, power wonder-working in the name, in the name,

There is power, power, wonder-working in the precious name of The Lord!”

What’s His name?  JESUS!

What’s His name? JESUS!

What’s His name? JESUS!

No other name I  know!

“There is healing in the name of Jesus!”

“There is deliverance in the name of Jesus!”

“There is salvation in the name of Jesus!”

“There is power in the name of Jesus!”

“He’ll break every chain that shackles people into darkness and bring them into the marvelous light!”

“Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess the name of Jesus!”

“There’s something about the name of Jesus, something about the name Jesus; it is the sweetest name I know!”

“Oh how I love the name Jesus, Oh how I love the name Jesus; it is the sweetest name, I know!”

These are lines from songs that have been written about Jesus and the power of His name.

There is no other name by which man can be saved–Jesus is His name!

The list could go on and on, but the reality is–there is no other name in the whole wide world that can accomplish what the name of Jesus can.

He said, “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, that I will do.” (John 15:16; 16:23) This is why the most effective prayer is not the model prayer that many call the Lord’s Prayer because He did not pray in His name. He gave us a model–a blueprint, but it is the sincere prayer of the heart of man (woman and child), to the Father, asked in His name, that gets results.

Through the prophet Isaiah, the Word was proclaimed–His name has been revealed and those who know Him, know the power of using His name.

For Believers-all over the land--praying in the name of Jesus, collectively and sincerely, will accomplish all that we ask, according to His will and we shall see a difference in the nations in which we live. Unite in prayer–seeking and thanking Him for peace, stability in every country, love in every heart, and healing for all who will receive it in His name.

What We Have!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

The Spirit of The Lord

That abides within us

Rises and takes control

In times of turmoil

And combats our fears

Turning them into courage and determination,

Assuring victory at every turn.

The Spirit of The Lord

Strengthens and empowers us,

Motivating, exercising, building

Muscle-bound perseverance,

Thought-binding power over

Every negative situation, shielding

And volleying whatever the enemy

Throws our way.

The Spirit of The Lord,

Who knows nothing but Love,

Constantly replenishes and pours

Into us, all He receives from above,

And then, The Spirit of The Lord

Moves upon us to journey this land

With knowledge, wisdom, and power

To accomplish what’s needed in this hour

So all might have access to the Gospel

We know and share with our lives!

This is what we have,

When The Spirit of The Lord abides

And thrives in us,

Courage, power, love, and a sound mind!

Power Of Love!

“When nothing else would help, Love lifted me!”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…”

“Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and love your neighbor as yourself”

Why should we love God and other people?

When we love God, we won’t sin against Him.

When we love people, we won’t sin against them.

Changing the climate of hate in our society would be so simple if people knew how to love.

Love does not hate and will not seek to do wrong to another.

Love seeks to care for and shelter self and others.

Love is forgiving (God forgives us).

Love corrects, admonishes, and warns against dangers.

Love embraces the object of its affection and nurtures the relationship.

Love does not complain or murmur against one another.

Love overlooks shortcomings and faults and loves anyway.

Love shares love with all who will receive it.

Love sees the needs of others and serves them.

Since God loves us so much, we should love one another whether a person is lovable or not.

If we learned how to love, there would be no wars, no murders, no rapes or incest, no violations of laws of any kind. Before we can love others, we must learn how to love self and then let the love overflow!

Love, like prayer, changes people!

Show some love today. You just might save somebody’s life and give them  a reason to get closer to Jesus!

By His Spirit

When The Word says, “not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit” what is He saying to us?

All too often we tend to think we have accomplished or achieved what we want in our own strength, knowledge or ability.  Not so!  Apart from the Lord, we can do nothing, but with Him, we can do all things!

If we allow our spirits to be guided by the Holy Spirit, we obtain wisdom beyond belief, favor with men to accomplish those things we did not know how to do, and the connections to get it done.  With the Holy Spirit, we can be prepared for future events that we would have never thought possible.

Our success here on earth, is not because of who we are or what we know, but because of who we know and how we allow His Spirit to direct our every move.  Hallelujah for the Holy Spirit’s directions.  It is done–not by power or might, but by His Spirit, says the Lord!

Speak Life

“Life and death, success and failure are all in the power of the tongue.” Speak life, speak success–ignore the liars, doubters, scorners, and naysayers. They do not have the last word over your life–The Great I Am–has the first and last Word over your life. He is Alpha and Omega–He planned your life from the beginning to the end. His plans are designed to prosper you and not to harm you. Set aside the doubts about your plans and run with His plans, crossing the finish line victoriously and receive your crown! Hallelujah for Our Risen King! He and He alone is worthy of all our praises!
