Who Do We Turn To?

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:12-16 NIV

When in trouble–who are we going to call? Perhaps, one of the reasons we are facing such difficult times in our society is that we are looking in the wrong direction for help. There is no help from the government coming our way unless The Lord moves upon the hearts of all those in authority to make a real difference in our world. And while many of those in authority do not have a heart for God, it is up to us who do–to seek Him to radically change hearts towards Him.

The Word of God tells us, “We don’t have what we need because we don’t know how to ask for it.” (James 4:2,3)  How do we ask? We boldly approach God, knowing that our Father loves us and only wants the best for us, therefore His ear is inclined to hear us. When we know we live to please Him, we don’t need to hesitate to put our requests before Him and have faith that He will respond to our requests.

Unfortunately, too many people approach God timidly–fearful and hesitant–because they think He won’t hear them.  They are like that child who wants something from their parents, but mumble under their breath–afraid to speak up–with their heads down–not wanting to face them. Some parents have to prod this child to even understand what it is they are asking and sometimes, frustration gets in the way of the request and no one is happy. Is that how we approach God when we need help? Are our heads hanging down because we know we have not obeyed His Word? Is this why we are hesitant and fearful?

It’s not like He doesn’t know what we need or want before we even ask. He just wants us to be bold enough to ask Him. That boldness is demonstrated in an assurance that He will grant our request–not arrogance in thinking He has to do anything–but confidence in His love and living right before Him.

Instead of looking for an individual–mere mortals in government to change our situations–let’s look to The Lord, boldly putting our requests before Him and then let’s listen to what He has to say and obey!  If our motives are right, He will hear and grant our request–of that we can be sure of!

Pray Without Ceasing!

“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

As we continue this journey in life–today as with every day, we ought to always pray, and pray without ceasing–for the land and all the people within it.

Prayer is not just petitions requesting something of God, but of thanksgiving and intercession, and acknowledgment of who He is. Prayer is not one-sided–it is communication with God–we talk to Him and He speaks to us–in the spirit, through His Word, and what He says is confirmed through others as He directs.

To pray without ceasing does not mean to keep asking for the same thing over and over again. Jesus said through Mark and Matthew that when we pray, we believe what we say we have and we shall receive–if we do not doubt. James tells us that if we doubt, we are like the waves of sea–unstable in all our ways.

Believe we receive what we ask for when we pray and then thank God for whatever it is and keep thanking Him until it manifests.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for all the children, parents, and grandparents who are raising grandchildren. We ask for your direction, instruction, guidance and strength and courage to do all that needs to be done. We thank You for providing us with everything we need–love, mercy, patience, and fortitude to keep going so we may do all things to Your glory. We know that You know all things–our needs, our thoughts, when we’ll fail, and when we’ll rise again, more determined than ever to praise You for Your goodness, love, and mercy towards us. Speak to our hearts at all times and create in us a desire to hear and obey Your every word, even when we do not understand it. You and You alone are worthy of all our praise and we lift our hands and hearts to You; we open our mouths and sing Your praises loud enough for the mountain tops to hear and participate. What an awesome God! Thank You for hearing and responding to our every need as only You can. Amen!

All I Can Do!

No matter how many resolutions we make,

No matter how often we reflect upon the past,

Seeking understanding, paths we don’t want to take

Studying The Word, so our endeavors will last,

Trying always to please God in all things,

Expecting the Blessings obedience brings

So we can enjoy the abundant life,

The promise of our King of Kings!

And when we have done all we can do, the only thing left is to wait to see the promises fulfilled, knowing that God is not a man that He should lie and what He has said, He will bring it to pass. What He has begun in us as a good work, He is faithful to complete and we have to know that there is no good thing, He will withhold from His children.

We are children of the Most High and we walk in His favor–when we believe we receive we shall have all we have asked for and we know there is nothing impossible with God.

All shall be as God has ordained it to be from the foundation of the earth, He knows and understands the trials we face and He has provided a means of escape from all that would attempt to bombard us with doubt–we simply trust Him to do all things well on our behalf.

When we pray, we give thanks and praise to the Only Wise God, Creator of Heaven and lover of our souls. He is the great I Am, The Truth, The Light and The Way, making ways where there were none for us to enjoy the abundant life–the enemy hopes to steal from us. And in all things, we present our petitions and requests in the name of Jesus, as He has said and He will be our advocate with the Father and it shall be done.

Having done all we know to do, then we stand firm on our faith in The Word, immovable, without any doubt, knowing that He and He alone can bring us out of the turmoil and into the pleasant places of His design.

I have done all I can do and now Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask  for Your divine intervention in all things so I may move forward, promoting the gospel and encouraging others to Your glory. Tear down the strongholds in the minds of those who have been blinded by the enemy and cause all of his plans to cease and desist, immediately. I surrender my will and thoughts for You to mold and direct as only You can and I wait with patience to hear Your reply.
