I Will Sing!

“I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” (Psalm 104:33 NIV)

The birds of the earth sing their praises every morning, their chirping so loud that sometimes, it becomes annoying, until one realizes they are simply doing, what they are meant to do.

The crickets sing their praises and when we forget–they remind us–they know our awesome God.

Every creature in the earth and those in the water have a song of praise for the God of all creation who gives them food when they are hungry and shelter in which to rest.

I am a uniquely created being, created in His image and He does supply all my needs and when I please Him, He gives me the desires of my heart. What an awesome God! He who set the moon, the sun and stars in their place, to give light and hope against darkness and loves me enough to provide all my needs–even when I didn’t deserve it.

What love He has for us, His creation made a little lower than the angels,

Yet giving us opportunity to judge them for their care of us.

What other god can claim to know how He exists or explain,

All He has done and will do, for those who trust Him and obey?

He, who was before time began in the minds of man

And will be–long after the dust has accumulated every hand,

That ever made anything with what He provided, before it was ever needed.

Oh yes, I will sing His praises, loud and long

My voice I’ll raise, whether weak or strong

There is none like Him, no one who can compare,

With Him or His Love, Mercy and Grace,

I will sing until I see Him face-to-face, and

Even more after, since all will be finished,

I will accomplish all He has planned

To His Glory, and everyone I meet shall know,

When I tell them of His goodness, everywhere I go.

I will sing, though many may cringe at the sound of my voice,

I will sing, He chose me and now it’s my choice,

To serve Him and sing His praises, forevermore.

This is my song, and like the critters who sometimes annoy us, this song may annoy since it has no rhythm or melody other than what’s in my heart. Since I am not alone in my quest to please Him, He’ll give a song to any and all who desire to sing His praises–loud, long, and strong–reminding all creation–He’s given us a song!

What’s His Name?

“But I will reveal my name to my people, and they will come to know its power. Then at last they will recognize that I am the one who speaks to them.”(Isaiah 52:6 NLT)

“There is power, power wonder-working in the name, in the name,

There is power, power, wonder-working in the precious name of The Lord!”

What’s His name?  JESUS!

What’s His name? JESUS!

What’s His name? JESUS!

No other name I  know!

“There is healing in the name of Jesus!”

“There is deliverance in the name of Jesus!”

“There is salvation in the name of Jesus!”

“There is power in the name of Jesus!”

“He’ll break every chain that shackles people into darkness and bring them into the marvelous light!”

“Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess the name of Jesus!”

“There’s something about the name of Jesus, something about the name Jesus; it is the sweetest name I know!”

“Oh how I love the name Jesus, Oh how I love the name Jesus; it is the sweetest name, I know!”

These are lines from songs that have been written about Jesus and the power of His name.

There is no other name by which man can be saved–Jesus is His name!

The list could go on and on, but the reality is–there is no other name in the whole wide world that can accomplish what the name of Jesus can.

He said, “Whatever you ask the Father in my name, that I will do.” (John 15:16; 16:23) This is why the most effective prayer is not the model prayer that many call the Lord’s Prayer because He did not pray in His name. He gave us a model–a blueprint, but it is the sincere prayer of the heart of man (woman and child), to the Father, asked in His name, that gets results.

Through the prophet Isaiah, the Word was proclaimed–His name has been revealed and those who know Him, know the power of using His name.

For Believers-all over the land--praying in the name of Jesus, collectively and sincerely, will accomplish all that we ask, according to His will and we shall see a difference in the nations in which we live. Unite in prayer–seeking and thanking Him for peace, stability in every country, love in every heart, and healing for all who will receive it in His name.

A New Song!

“Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful” (Psalm 149:1 NLT).

While the older songs–written out of experience, torment, and hope–are good, every day we live, in our right minds and have use of our limbs, should ignite in us a new song of praise for all He is doing in our lives!

So today, this is my new song:

Oh Lord, how I love that You love me,

Giving me chance after chance to live right before You,

Reminding me of Your Word throughout the day,

Never allowing me to forget–that my life–is all about You!

When I woke, wracked with pain, You spoke to my heart,

And I heard You say, “Relax, I’m right here.”

When I thought I saw death coming for me,

I heard You say, “Not yet–you have much to do.”

So, now Lord, I praise You, for Your love,

I praise You for Your mercy and grace,

I praise You just because You’re You

And I’ll praise You, all the days of my life,

Just because of who You are!

Lord, I pray this song of praise is acceptable to You and that You will receive it as a living testimony of what is in my heart as I strive to live for You and honor You in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray and thank You for all You are to me.

Any Way You Praise Him!

“Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp” (Psalm 149:3 NKJV).

There are so many protocols observed by so many people in how to praise God. When people understand that when you’re in a relationship with God, it does not matter how you praise Him, just as long as you praise Him!

Here the psalmist states to: praise His name with the dance–so this diffuses the thought that we should not dance in the churches. But let’s get real–a dance in praise of God should not look like the dance in the club or party. There is a difference–one is lead by Holy Spirit, the other by another spirit that is certainly not holy.

Sing His praises with timbrel and harp. There are a number of people who believe that any instrument used in a church is ungodly; some who believe that only the instruments mentioned in the Bible are allowed, and some who think only the songs in Psalms should be sung. Well, if that’s true–then why are we instructed to “sing a new song,” unto the Lord?

Here’s a tip–for all who know The Word and The Lord–praise Him any way you want to do it and He will receive the praise!

It is time for many to wake up and shed their religious, pious attitudes and get into relationship with God and seek Him in how to praise Him. As long as what we do is sincere acknowledgment and honoring to God–He is not going to dismiss our praise because we did not have the right instrumental accompaniment. He doesn’t even care whether we can sing or not (that’s people who care) when we lift our voices to magnify Him the sound becomes a sweet melody to Him.

As a lyricist, I’ve written many songs of praise to Him–to accompany sermons–out of daily experiences and a number of people have sang my songs–with the accompaniment of instruments and without the accompaniment of instruments. Children and adults sang from their hearts and I know that God was glorified in the midst of their singing.

Too often–we allow what others think, stop us from doing what God has put in our hearts to do. Don’t allow a religious spirit to keep you from praising God–any way you want to praise Him. If your church thinks instruments are the devil’s tool, you might want to re-think where you worship. Find a place of worship where God is glorified and magnified and it’s all about Him–not the people in the building.

And while you’re thinking about what I just said, give Him a praise–right where you are–and watch how He honors your sincere praise–any way you praise Him!
