Miscellaneous Fun Stuff

First of all, Thank you for any followers who made it possible for my first self-loaded eBook to be ranked #1 in Devotionals for the 5 day free book promotion.  Total downloads, 316.  My prayer now is that every person who downloaded a free book, will tell 2 friends and they’ll tell 2 friends…and they will buy the book for $1.99. I am cvr

Secondly, thank you for supporting my blog posts with your interest.  I really do appreciate and write to encourage and hopefully inspire all.

By way of announcement, I am in the process of writing individual books for each character in Trapped and they will be available soon. The Session–Chapter 11 in Trapped is being presented as a play on June 15, 2013 @ 4:00 p.m. in Detroit.  A panel discussion–regarding women’s issues–will proceed after the presentation with professionals and information for women in need of support or assistance.

Last, but not least–let’s change the way we look at each day we wake.  How many positive adjectives can you think of to describe each day of the week?  Here are my thoughts:

Supernatural Sunday

Marvelous Monday

Terrific Tuesday

Wonderful Wednesday

Transformative Thursday

Faithful Friday

Super Saturday

Positive affirmations at the beginning of every day, will make a difference in our attitude and in how we approach life’s daily challenges.

Have a wonderfully blessed day, this day!

Make This a Better Day!

In the midst of all the things for which we cannot determine a finite ending–world hunger, world peace, worldwide respect, worldwide love, worldwide economic stability–we can determine to make each day a better day for all of those we love and for those we meet. Make this a better day! Take a little time and seek someone who has no one to share their joys and sorrows with and allow them into your circle. They’ll feel better about themselves and you’ll feel better, just for knowing you made this day–a better day for someone else!

Trapped–the Play

I am in the process of creating the script for a stage play based on the book–Trapped!  I would love to get your input regarding the scenes that should be presented on stage.

Read the book and let me know.  Book is available on amazon.com and xlibris.com as either a paperback or ebook.

We’ll be holding auditions soon.  Look for the announcement as soon as we (my creative team and I) approve the script.

God is Yet Speaking

For whatever reason, there are many who say that God “is not speaking” to anyone these days.  I stand ready to refute that claim, by anyone who makes it.  If someone truly believes that God is not speaking, I would have to question their relationship with God.  Before the arrival of Jesus on the earth, God spoke “through” the prophets and the law.  When Jesus walked the earth, He “spoke what His father said”, using parables so the people could relate.  Now that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of His Father, He sent His Spirit back to remind us of all things said, and to show us those things to come.  The Holy Spirit will also “speak to our hearts” regarding any matter–whether it is a small matter or a great one; He still speaks.  As a matter of reference, I would refer to my latest book.  I cannot take credit for the idea of the book, but do proclaim–with everything in me–that God spoke to it to my heart, and the writing flowed without great effort on my part.  Those who have read it–agree that God’s hand is in the plan.  The Word tells us that He is never without a witness of His goodness and I declare Trapped to be a witness of His goodness through the works of my hands.  “Nothing the enemy attempts to do shall prosper or have any place in my life” is my constant proclamation and it so because The Word confirms it!  Read the book–and if you cannot see God in it–I will respect your position! Wrong Parents Punished

For the second time (of which I am aware), a parent has been punished–given jail time for larceny–simply because they wanted their child to have access to a quality education.  The crime–enrolling their child in a school community in which they did not live.  I know school districts have rules, but in the case of the parent in Connecticut, she was homeless and was simply trying to do the right thing for her child!  How foolish is a court system that punishes a person for trying to do right by their children?   The cost of the education allegedly, $15,686 of tax payer money.

Let’s look at the “real” criminals when it comes to parenting and education.  How about punishing the parents who never read to their children, never prepared their children for school, never took the time to discipline them at home or to teach them respect for others and the property of others!  Considering the high illiteracy rate, the high drop-out rate and the high rate of those who are virtually unemployable, why don’t we find those parents and arrest them for grand theft?  I’m sure the cost to tax payers who support the unemployable, replacement of textbooks desecrated and vandalized by students, the cost of re-painting and renovating buildings vandalized by the illiterate, the cost of supporting their children who are a product of their illiteracy, and the cost of building new prisons and staffing them because of the low reading test scores that predict the need for new jails would be greater than $15K.  How much would that amount to be?  These are the real criminals; not the parents who are trying to make sure their children have a good head start in life.

Our justice system needs some serious re-vamping when we choose to punish parents who actually care about their children!iphone 048

The book–which details the angst of the above rant–is available through Amazon.com, Xlibris.com, BarnesandNoble.com and many other bookstores.  Let’s do something to fight for the parents who do care!
